There is this feast in Scandinavia (and some other places) on december the 13. where the return of light is celebrated and young beautiful maidens in white skirts enter the rooms carrying candles and singing songs with gentle voices.
I thought that geese with their white feathers did fit quite well in to this picture... apart from the voices.
I haven't any of my usual painting stuff at hand, so I had to improvise heavily, which some my regard as a challenge. I found it simply annoying...
do you celebrate it in germany too? this year, my best friend going to be lucia..

No, but I have been on a danish school where it was celebrated. I were never Lucia myself though, because it included to sing solo in front of a lot of people
No, it is actually more a celebration of light and if you by Yule refer to the heathen meaning I think that this is actually more close to christianity. Sinse the legend of Lucia talks of a woman who died the martyr death, killed because of her goodness. That's pretty much the rough of the story as I recall it.
Actually it is, as so often, a blend of pagan and christian tradition. The feast of the christian martyr Lucia coincided with the pagan celebration of the wintersolstice, which prior to the introduction of the gregorian calendar fell on the 13. december (now the 21.)
