Old motif, conveniently symoblising the trinity, fertility or whatever else might be associated with this time of year (it also appears frequently in synagogues, but what it is supposed to denot in this context is rather obscure).
The text is a German riddle: three hares and three ears, and yet every one has two of them.

I love this whimsical, fairy tale style. It's just very reminiscent of something you'd find in an old children's book. Beautiful.
